This course covers the skills and knowledge necessary to undertake the external examination required to obtain a Long Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (LROCP) issued by the Office of Maritime Communications (OMC).
If you intend travelling on offshore coastal voyages, or are applying to AMSA for a Certificate of Competence as a Coxswain, Master < 24 or Master < 45, you should obtain an LROCP Certificate which incorporates knowledge of both Medium Frequency/High Frequency (MF/HF) Radios, designed for long range transmission, and VHF radios.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
Students must be 16 years of age, have a minimum of year 10 with a sound achievement in English and Mathematics or the equivalent, or gain mature age entry.
You will require a notebook and pen for theory components.
Attire is to be of current industry standard with enclosed footwear to be worn at all times.
Statement of Attainment
Upon receiving your statement of attainment you can apply to the OMC for a Long Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (LROCP). There is a fee payable to the OMC.
